Totally decadent Chocolate egg... thought I would have just a coffee but brought this decadence home!! $8 & delicious... choc shell, marshmallows and ganache inside... 2 dessert portions!! Won't do it again but encourage others to 'have a go' just for a oncer!!

Came in for a cheap Wednesday burger. Had onion rings for a starter then a chicken burger. Enjoyed the burger and fries, honestly nothing to write home about. But a good feed and a nice place with a chill atmosphere.

I have been in NZ for 50 days and have ordered seafood chowder throughout the country, both North and South Islands. The seafood chowder at the Black Dog in Dunedin is the BEST I have been served, bar none. It is rich, creamy and filled with beautiful seafood. Each bite, a hearty taste of shrimp, fish, mussels and other wonders of the sea. I didn't think I was very hungry, but couldn't help myself and ate the entire serving. My husband enjoyed the pasta special, spaghetti carbonara. The staff was very nice and engaging. All in all, a lovely dining experience. I highly recommend The Black Dog.

His staff are also the same and that shows the reflection of the excellent management.
